Rain In The Mountains:Book Review!!

Today I am gonna confess my deepest secret:P

                                “I would choose Books over Makeup any day!”

If am stranded on a deserted island I would ask the genie for Ruskin Bond books :P

Am a Ruskin Bond fanatic!!Reading his books gives me a sense of inner peace and special power of imagination ;) I love his style and ease of writing. The way he transforms mundane encounters to riveting reads is mind blowing!! U must be a Ruskin Bond fan to get what I mean :)

Now to the actual review:

I loved the cover photo!!I don’t usually judge a book by its cover but for people who do it is definitely a hit :)

Rain in the mountains is like a collection of eclectic anecdotes from the daily life of Mr.Bond.It is a refreshing change from the adrenaline rush kind of books like Dan Brown and Patricia Briggs! His artistic and vivid descriptions of the trees, rain, summer, flowers, mountains and all things nature drive me crazy to spend my vacations in Dehradun and Missouri. I so badly want to take a walk through the hill roads, shop at the old bazaar and drink hot sweet tea...mmmmm it would be bliss!!Purely bliss!!Rejuvenates ur body and soul!!

His humorous takes on life and chronicles on the characters in his life make this book worth reading. We live in a fast paced world where we don’t spare a glance to our fellow passenger but here is a man who forces u to stop and enjoy the simple yet pleasant things of life through his words.

If u want a breath of fresh air then GRAB it soon :)

Skin/Hair Care Tip Of The Week #2:Watermelon and Oats for skin

How did ur week go guys??Mine was pretty hectic..!

So onto the second post of the Skin/Hair care feature I am going to share a riveting recipe for pinkish glow that I came across recently over the web :)

• ·         Watermelon Mask:

Take a little of the watermelon juice and mix it with Almond paste. U can make almond paste by soaking it overnight in milk and grinding it to a paste in the morn :)Apply the almond-watermelon paste and wash it after 10 minutes. It will give u a pinkish complexion due to the presence of Lycopene :)

• ·         Oatmeal to the rescue :

 

Apply a mask of oatmeal and milk on wet face and neck every day. U can use the mask as a scrub too :) It evens out the skin tone and reduces pigmentation and blemishes :)

Blisscovered March Edition!!My 100th post!!

Finally!!I got my first Blisscovered box!!!Yay! But I am kinda disappinted with the contents! :( Read on to know why!

 I read Erica's review of this edition on WiseShe and felt sad about the contents.After receiving it myself I feel worse :|
First I do not need the makeup remover..wanted the eye pencil from Chambor.
And y did they send me the Lancome wala youth concentrate!
And the coupon is valid only till march 27th as u can c!!I mean its not like I am going to like a product just by looking at it and order it as it is 22nd march already!
And then They did not send me the product description list!!WTH!!

But onto the pros:
The packaging is so charming :D  Loved the purple ribbon :D
I loved the CK SHOCK perfume <3 <3 I expected it to be on the face kind of fragrance but it turned out to be my kind of perfume...just rightly strong ...not mild to go undetected and not strong to hit u on the face.The fragrance is totally feminine and reminds me of vanilla syrup :P Initially It was floral to my nose then it turned out better :) Even as I  write type this I have smelled it like 20 times.not that I am counting ;)
I am giving the Youth Concentrate to mum :)
I always wanted to try stuff from Forest Essentials and now I get to tey their neem and saffron face wash :D
I haven't smelled the H2O body butter yet.

Will try out the stuff and review them soon :)

P.S: This is my 100th Post :D So Yaaaaaaaayyyy for that :D

New Series : SKIN/HAIR CARE TIP OF THE WEEK #1

I was planning to start this new feature on my blog but my laziness didn't allow me :P


From now on,every Saturday I am going to post  TIP OF THE WEEK : a feature that will contain 2 or more tips  for better skin and hair care :)
It will have Do-It-Yourself recipes too :) I would love to have your support for this series :D So lets get it running shall we??


SKIN/HAIR CARE TIP OF THE WEEK #1:

• Apply a mixture of Egg white and Yoghurt on ur face and neck.Wash it after 10 mins.It is gr8 for all skin types.Egg-white helps in skin tightening and the yoghurt hydrates the skin to give u a youthful glow :)
• Apply garlic juice over pimples/acne as it is an excellent antibacterial agent!

Aroma Magic Oxy Pack review!

 Face Packs are more of a necessity than a luxury to me as my skin tends to look dull and lifeless! My first product from Aroma Magic was the Almond lotion which is my HG for the winters :) I also use the under eye gel, under cream and essential oil from the brand. They are all good! It’s been a long tym since I bought a face mask since most of them have been duds :( sob sob but after reading the reviews of the AM mineral glow pack I wanted to try it but it was unavailable in the stores. I tried it order it online but it wasn’t available ter too.So instead I got this Oxy Pack and am reaching for it nearly everyday :D

It is a gel based mask that has a slight medicinal smell that dies once u apply on the face. The gel is transparent so u r saved from people around u calling “booth” “green/blue ghost” “chudail” etc etc  ;) Since it is gel it dries within 2 mins and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.U can wear the mask and not worry about transferring it anywhere.

It is given in the instructions that u need to wash it after 20 mins.

PROS:

• ·         Transparent gel that dries fast.
• ·         Doesn’t dry out my skin. Even after washing it I can wait for 10-15 mins for applying moisturiser.
• ·         Brightens the skin but mind u the effect lasts for only a few hours.
• ·         It is mentioned in the pack that it oxygenates the skin to keep skin cells flexible and regenerated. I am not sure about the flexible and regenerated part but it sure helps my skin get a boost and rejuvenates it :)
• ·         Costs 215/- for 50 g and little goes a long way so It is going to last me for a gud measure of time!
• ·         The container is sturdy.

CONS:

• ·         I need to dip my fingers. Totally unhygienic.
• ·         I don’t think it is going to lighten the skin tone as the company claims maybe just a temporary brightening effect.
• ·         It is not exactly a hydrating mask but still it will suit all skin types ;)
• I like this mask and use it more than often!

I did a Facial at home !!My DIY Home Facial

The parlour facials are great but Home facials can be done at cheaper costs ;)
 I love trying out homemade recipes for skin and hair :) So am here with another DIY post :)

U will need :

• Hairband-to keep ur hair away from face
• Gentle facial cleanser-Cetaphil or neutrogena deep clean will do :)
• Bowl
• Warm water-lukewarm and not hot
• Soft Towel
• Steaming Hot water 
• Exfoliating scrub-I used Aroma magic..u can use the St.Ives Apricot scrub too :)
• Facial mask:U need 2 types of mask:pore cleansing mask and hydrating mask
• Cucumber slices
• Place to lie down and relax
• Cold Water
• Serum
• Moisturiser-u can skip this if ur serum is moisturising enuf :)
• Lemon

So now for the steps:

1. Tie ur hair and put a hairband to keep the hair away from ur face.
2. Massage the facial cleanser on ur face in a circular motion over ur cheeks,chin and forehead.use a downward motion over ur nose.Use circular motion over ur neck.
3. Now after a min wash it with lukewarm water.
4. Pour hot water in the bowl and lean over the bowl with a towel covering u (Yea yea the steaming process ;) )
5. Squeeze a few drops of lemon if u have oily skin or vit e oil if u have dry skin into the bowl for extra benefits.
6. After steaming Use a blackhead clearing scrub..I used the AM Mineral glow scrub :) And so I scrubbed for 2 mins and left it on my face for 10 mins:) 
7. Now wash ur face with Cold water.It helps to tone the skin!
8. Its time for the mask...the best part :D First use a deep pore cleansing mask :Clay masks work the best or u can make ur own mask using a mixture of Multani mitti and honey.
9. Wash it after 10-15 mins with lukewarm water
10. Next apply the hydrating mask.I made one using Banana,Olive oil,vit e oil,milk cream and rose oil 
11. Lie in a place,relax with cucumber slices over ur eyes and listen to ur fav music ;) Enrique anyone?? :D
12. Wash it off in 7 mins with lukewarm water. 
13. Now splash cold water.U will look radiant ;)
14. Apply a serum.I used Lotus Micro emulsion!
15. U can use a night cream alternatively :)

Phew!!It is a long process but who doesn't love pampering especially after a strenuous week :D

U can also bleach ur skin before using the face packs.The Fem Gold Bleach has got great reviews ;) But do a patch test before bleaching :)

My No Makeup Makeup Look!!

I have watched the Lisa Eldridge video on the  "No makeup makeup",Bubzbeauty's natural looking makeup and others many times over!!
So I thot Y not try this and I did it yesterday :D yay!!

So onto the products that I used for the look :)

1. Cleansed my face with Cetaphil lotion
2. Olay natural white moisturiser over my face and neck.
3. Mixed Neutrogena sunscreen with Maybelline BB cream.
4. Applied Faces eye pencil in Black under the upper lash line(below the lashes).It makes the lashes look thicker without being obvious as the experts say ;)
5. Smudged a lil bit of the liner in the lower lash line just at the corners!
6. Curled my lashes with H & G lash curler.
7. I tend to turn light to deep pink depending on the situation :P :P But the scenario for deep blushing was out of question yday :P So I wore the Colorbar Cosmic Rose - 2 to 3 swipes blended from my cheeks to the temple.
8. I then used Covergirl Lipstick in Powerpink to highlight my cheekbones and under the brow bone!It works perfectly for me as it has the right amount of shimmer and pink shade to bend with my skintone :D
9. Then i applied Maybelline smooth and care Lipbalm in strawberry.
10. Powdered with a light hand under my eyes only as I have dry skin.And am set!!

I liked the results :D :P Enhanced version of my face without obvious makeup :P

P.S:I am going to try the "Kurbaan" version of Kareena's makeup albeit the eyeshadows today.I know am late but it has caught my fancy only now :P
