Celeb Makeup :Anushka Sharma at Filmfare Nomination Bash!

So I was going through the pictures from the Filmfare Nominations 2013 bash and found this one photo where Anushka Sharma looks ekdam different from her usual dewy skin/smokey eyes avatar!

Though I am crazy about her and secretly have a gal crush, I feel she looks too vampy here. Is it just me or u too think her eye makeup could have been toned down??

My Visit to the Chennai Book Fair 2013 and Haul!

I love reading books.They are my best companions :) Also since I usually travel to long distances nothing beats boredom than a suspense thriller :)

The Book fair in Chennai is held every year in the month of January and I have been visiting it for 7 or 8 years!FYI, this is the 36th book fair with about 747 stalls and 450 participants! 10 lakh titles and 1 crore books! 

I visited it yesterday and walked like a zombie :P I am planning to visit it again.It is like a whole world of books where I can get trapped and not even realize ;)

There was this offer in one of d stalls (don't remember d name) where u could take 3 novels for 100 bucks.That was too gud an offer to pass.But the novels were really old and mostly adult stuff.I had to wade thru a lot to get these 3.

James patterson is one of my favorites and I have heard a lot about the Stephanie Plum series from the firangi book forums.The Karen Robards one I got on impluse :)

And the Dessert of Yday ;)

 No Book shopping is complete without Ruskin Bond! I got this unabridged collection of his books.It has :

• The Room on the Roof
• Vagrants On the valley
• Flight of Pigeons
• Delhi is not Far
• The Sensualist
• A handful of nuts

I own most of his other books except the ghost collections.I am not much inclined to get them as I am terrified of ghosts and ghost stories :( Let's see if I do muster up some courage to get them :)

• Gossmakeupartist : Wayne Goss is a fab makeup artist from UK. Someone once mentioned :"U r not a makeup artist!U r an encyclopedia!" and I agree totally.He is like the Shahrukh Khan of makeup :D The tips and tricks he dishes out nonchalantly is his prime USP! He looks gorgeous and the wink he does after d end of every video hits u in the heart ;) Some of  my fav tutorials :

 

 

• Lisa Eldridge : Another makeup guru from UK.Her videos are HD and she provides excellent details on every aspect of makeup.She has worked with top models and magazines.She has her signature line in No.7 brand and is also associated with Chanel.Some of my favourite videos :

• Panacea81: Her real name is Lauren luke.She has her signature line in Sephora and has released a book "Looks by Lauren Luke". She has been featured in a BBC Documentary and even has a video on Don't Cover It Up Campaign against domestic abuse.I like her because she is very down to earth and does a great job of celeb inspired tutes :)

• Miss Jessica Harlow: She is fresh and confident.She is proud of her curves and I love her attitude.There is something about her that makes me watch her every time.I forgot to mention she is stylish and classy :) 

•  Diamonds and heels: Her real name is Cassandra bankson.She is chirpy and does not put on any airs :) Her makeup videos are fab and she puts on several videos on dealing with acne.She has been featured on Good morning America and indulges in modelling too.

•  Bubzbeauty : Oh gawd! how did I forget her??? :O She is my favorite after Lisa Eldridge :) Her voice is super calming and her tutes are simple :) She gives lots of advice on life and skincare! very sweet and cute :)

I have more favorites like Julieg,Makeupby eman,Dulcecandy but I got lazy so am not posting about them here :P

And How can we forget our desi guru Deeptima ?? ;)

Out Of Curiosity : Which is your favourite makeup product??

I suffer from chronic small eye syndrome :P And Thats y Mascara is my all time favorite product along with lash curler.It helps me look awake instead of closing my eye space :) I personally love Attitude mascara as it gives volume to my lashes.Between Volume and length I would pick volume anyday :)

So wat is ur favourite makeup item??The one that enhances ur pretty face :) share it with me :)

Lipstick Love: Colorbar Velvet Matte:Rum Raisin Review and Swatches!

After hearing everyone rave about the Colorbar Velvet matte lipsticks and tat too the shade Obsessed Orange I went to SS only to get disappointed they had only 4 or 5!Went scouring to H&G where they had some 15 shades but not the orangy one :( :( Then I thot I had to have a orange lipstick so asked them about Maybelline Bronzy Orange..my bad the counter was empty!I went to NH and didn't find Bronzy Orange there too..sigh!!I wanted to get Faces..They have a beautiful warm orange shade but I also wanted to get a fuchsia shade :P Now I was literally in tears..sob sob but didn't want to give up so went back and asked about Lipice lipbalms..they didn't have the color changing ones !! It was too much to bear but still I went ahead got Oh My Magenta.I swatched other lippies too..they were inviting but I got this particular Rum Raisin since I do not own any dark shades it caught my fancy and I brought the baby home :) Suma had suggested to try hot hot hot on lipstick reco long bak but when I swatched the shade I balked :\ But it is definitely a gorgeous red :)

PRICE: 250/- but on Stylecraze u can get it for 225/-

Single swipe:so intense!

PACKAGING: The first lipstick which I bought was from Colorbar and It was in a square tube.And now they come in silver cylindrical tubes.The packaging is pretty sturdy and the cap clicks shut satisfactorily..u need not worry about broken lipsticks with this one.The bottom of the tube has a paint/lipstick that lets us know the exact shade of the lipstick.And it looks classy too ;)
 
COLOR AND TEXTURE: The shade Rum Raisin is a deep maroon shade with little plum and is a versatile color that will suit fair and dusky skin tones alike.It is a pretty intense color to be worn in daytime and will be perfect for functions.It glides over the lips smoothly but def nt creamy.U can't expect that from a matte lipstick I guess ;) Does tend to settle into fine lines after sometime.U def need a high power lipbalm like Lotus cocoa under this if u have dry lips like mine.It smells like agarbatthi to me.

PIGMENTATION: It is highly pigmented.U need only a single swipe to cover the discolorations of lips.As I already mentioned, it is an intense color.And does not contain any shimmers.I hate shimmers or frostiness in lipsticks(except Revlon peach).

LASTING POWER: This particular attribute disappointed me a lot.Usually lipsticks tend to last on my lips on a n avg of 3 hrs.I read reviews of this range that it lasts easily for 6 hrs.But this shade lasted on me only for 3 hrs :( Other lippies are atleast creamy.After 3 hours it leaves a pinkish tint that I am liking.I tried Oh My Magenta.Wore it in the morning and it lasted me for nearly 6 hrs!

PROS:

• Deep marron shade that is flattering on most skin tones.
• Sturdy and classy packaging
• Reasonably priced.
• Awesome range for shade selection
• Lasting power is great for other shades.

CONS:

• The previous lipsticks were creamier.
• Lasting power is okayish for this particular shade.
• Strong incense smell which lasts as long as u are wearing the lipstick :(
• Dry lips will have problems with this one.
• Even after applyin lipbalm underneath it tends to become dry and settles into fine lines after half and hour or so.I keep applying lipbalm over this.
• The pinkish tint left by both Rum Raisin and On My Magenta is the same even thou both are poles apart.one is a deep darker shade and another is a bright fuchsia shade.
• It is difficult to remove the satins from the lips.U need a oil based makeup remover.I use the chambor one from Blisscovered :)

RATING: :D :D :D out of 5

RECO: I would definitely recommend this shade.It makes up for the low staying power.And lips tend to get dry with matte lipsticks :) But be sure to smell the lipsticks at the counter ;)

P.S.: Obsessed Orange is available on stylecraze now..Boohoo..It was not there when I was looking for it :( Y me?? :( I can't stop dreaming of u my orange baby :\

My No Makeup Makeup Look!!

I have watched the Lisa Eldridge video on the  "No makeup makeup",Bubzbeauty's natural looking makeup and others many times over!!
So I thot Y not try this and I did it yesterday :D yay!!

So onto the products that I used for the look :)

1. Cleansed my face with Cetaphil lotion
2. Olay natural white moisturiser over my face and neck.
3. Mixed Neutrogena sunscreen with Maybelline BB cream.
4. Applied Faces eye pencil in Black under the upper lash line(below the lashes).It makes the lashes look thicker without being obvious as the experts say ;)
5. Smudged a lil bit of the liner in the lower lash line just at the corners!
6. Curled my lashes with H & G lash curler.
7. I tend to turn light to deep pink depending on the situation :P :P But the scenario for deep blushing was out of question yday :P So I wore the Colorbar Cosmic Rose - 2 to 3 swipes blended from my cheeks to the temple.
8. I then used Covergirl Lipstick in Powerpink to highlight my cheekbones and under the brow bone!It works perfectly for me as it has the right amount of shimmer and pink shade to bend with my skintone :D
9. Then i applied Maybelline smooth and care Lipbalm in strawberry.
10. Powdered with a light hand under my eyes only as I have dry skin.And am set!!

I liked the results :D :P Enhanced version of my face without obvious makeup :P

P.S:I am going to try the "Kurbaan" version of Kareena's makeup albeit the eyeshadows today.I know am late but it has caught my fancy only now :P
