Lipstick Love : The under hyped shade : MAC Hot Tahiti Review and Swatches

I love berries. Inside my tummy not on my mouth. And Hot Tahiti luks scary and berry on the tube. But one swipe and I was sold.

It comes in the standard MAC packaging and cost me 1190 bucks (now it will cost u 1450 evil MAC boooo!!)

MAC describes it as a soft reddish coral. I dont find anything remotely coral in the shade. In the hand swatches, it looks a soft reddish berry with bits of brown thrown in. But on me, it pulls a soft berry pink. Not a trace of red :( Not saying I am unhappy. The berry pink looks polished but I would have liked a hint of red. Nevertheless, it is a gorgeous shade.

It is of Glaze finish but devoid of shimmers. Has a sheer glossy finish that can be built up to medium coverage.

Application is easy and even. The lipstick feels comfortable but cannot be tagged as hydrating. Nice part is I can use this without a lip balm even in the winters.

Staying power is approximately 2 hours without eating and drinking with 2 swipes. I cannot go beyond 2 hours without feeding my ever hungry stomach ;)

Indirect Sunlight

Direct Sunlight

Indoor Light

Indian skin tones can rock this shade totally :)

Overall thoughts : A very pretty shade that can look red or berry based on ur skin color and tone. The glossy finish of this lipstick is worth a try at the store.

So what do you think of Hot Tahiti ?? Love or Hate ??

The Comeback Post Or Not : The Everyday Staples for the Sensible Me

Sensible me. Cuz I haven't splurged on every random collection popped out by brands ;)

Moving on to the everyday staples that I literally can't live without  :

Lipsticks : Starting with these as I love my colors ;)

Dreaming Dahlia : I and See Sheer. We were are in love. But then I got a crush albeit celebrity one on dreaming dahlia. Celebrity crush as this was the last piece in the MAC store and it belonged to Deepika (The queen of Jhumkas). DD looks shamelessly bold in the tube but transforms to a sheer glossy reddish orange sheen on the lips. It helps that it is of lustre finish. If u hadn't guessed it already, yea I flicked it from her :D Thank u Deeps <3

Hot Tahiti : Scary looking ? yes. but goes a sheer berry red on the lips that can be built up easily.

Mehr : Enough has been written about this. A dirty blue based pink that looks almost pastel on me.

Time for the basics.

Garnier BB Cream : I go through tubes of this amazing product. It seems to blur the imperfections. Must have totally.

Kryolan Dermacolor Camouflage Cream : Own this in 2 shades courtesy my persistent dark circles. I pulled an all nighter and wore this in the morning. Nada dark circles. Will review them soon.

Lakme Absolute Kohl : Should repurchase this ASAP. Now once u know how smooth a Ferrari is u wouldn't go back to maruti 800 would u. It is the same with this kajal. Intensely black, smooth, waterproof, smudge proof (mostly) and lasts long.

L'oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara : I was gaga over the Lakme Eyeconic mascara till I got this. Worth the moolah as I love the formula and the fanned out effect it gives.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium (?) : Not sure about the shade I own. A much loved product to set my concealer(s).

Seems like a lot of stuff but takes 10-15 minutes max to do my face.

I also keep the L'oreal Color Le Riche gloss in Violet Attitude handy. Really Moisturizing and smells just amazing :)

Till the Next Post
Ciao!!

MAC Captive (Satin) lipstick Review and Swatches!

Remember I had bought 2 MAC lipsticks along with the Kryolan Blush palette?? I had reviewed one of them long back :MAC See Sheer which is one of the best shades in my vanity. U can read the review here : MAC See Sheer Lipstick Review

The other one MAC Captive is a totally different shade selection.

Comes in the standard MAC packaging and is priced at Rs.990/-It is a part of the permanent line.

Captive is a lovely plummy pink shade.Totally a wintery shade.I tend to stick to peachy/coral pinks as plums and berries look too deep on me. But Captive has the right mix of plum and pink that suits me for a change :D

The shade is from the Satin range meaning it sets to a semi matte finish and provides good color pay off without drying out the lips. The lipstick has a light creamy texture and imparts enough color to cover mild discoloration in a single swipe. It can be easily build to opaque finish without patchiness.

Being a Satin lipstick, it is not hydrating but does not dry out the lips either. Does not feather or
bleed.

It definitely does not settle into fine lines or accentuate dry lips. Also, it does not have the shine of Lustre finish lipsticks.

I just realized Captive would look awesome on dusky skin!

The staying power is 3 hrs max with a lip balm underneath.

VERDICT :

If u love plummy wintery shades, then look out for this next time u visit MAC store. I prefer wearing Captive with deep shades of kurtis and Colorbar Cosmic rose blush :)

8 Brightening lipsticks for Fair-Medium skin

This post is for girls out there who wear lipsticks that totally clashes with their fair/medium skin color. Even desi brands like Lakme have mostly browns and maroons in their enrich satin collection :/ There are fair gals who carry brown lipsticks pretty well but I am not one of those lucky ones. Brown makes me look haggard and sick :( If u are like me then no issues I am here to help u out :)

Personally I love Coral Pinks! They work like a charm any day :)

So here goes the list!

In the same order :

Apart from the ones in the swatches I would also recommend :
  • MAC Lustre lipstick in See Sheer : A delectable coral peach that is a must have.
  • Revlon Colorburst lipgloss in Papaya : Coral gloss that comes out stunning on warm Indian skin :)
  • Maybelline High Shine gloss in One Shine Day : A wearable coral pink gloss that looks great and not too bright.
  • Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in Temptress : Blue based medium pink that not only looks natural on my lips but also imparts a punch of morning freshness if u get what I mean ;)
  • Avon Simply Pretty lipstick in Coral Pink : This may wash out dusky skin but on fair skin it comes out really well.
The post was helpful to u guys hopefully :) I would come up with lipstick recommendations for dusky/dark skin too ;)

Favorites from May!

A bad waxing job whose ramifications lasted a week bounds to make me hate June! When I had to look back to may I was euphoric with all the shopping I had done. And mostly makeup no surprises there :D

I had a great time enjoying the feel of new makeup on my face.

U can easily guess the shades if U have read my previous posts :)
  • Revlon Colorburst in Soft Rose
  • Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Fruiti
  • MAC Lustre in See Sheer
I prefer cream finish and balmy lipsticks even in Summers due to my perennially chapped lips. And these 3 were my flings in May.I fear I and See Sheer might get into a relationship with the amount of people complimenting on "How perfect we are for each other"

The chocolate scented and low on shimmer highlighter is a winner on my face. Instantly perks up if used in minimal amount :)

My Colossal kajal got over at the start of week and I did not have time or energy for buying another one. So I came back to this. Does not smudge and stays put for more than 7 hours under ac environment.  Already one of the best products I used in 2012!

Summer Lip trend Choices!

Most of the makeup trends that we drool over from the Runway are hardly wearable in real life.

But definitely adaptable so that the dogs on our streets do not chase us ;) It all takes a little bit of tapping on the Google baba :)

I was pouring over Grazia and noticed the article on popping lip color trend. And that gave me an idea on doing this post.

I am sharing some lip colors that are perfect for summer but not OTT :)

Let me start with Fuchsia :

  • Maybelline High Shine Lipstick in Fruit Punch : It just stole my heart in the first swipe :) Bright Fuchsia that IS WEARABLE. It is a color that will make u feel pretty instantly. Price : Rs.400/-
  • Colorbar True Gloss in Vintage Rose : Not for office wear. Very bright and needs courage to carry off outside home. Price : Rs.495/-
  • Colorbar Oh My Magenta : A matte and subdued form of the vintage rose gloss. Price : Rs.250/-
 Tangerine:

  • Maybelline High Shine Gloss in Captivating Coral : A warm tangerine gloss. Pigmentation is sheer for those who are not into bold oranges. Price : Rs.350/-
  • Revlon Lip butter in Tutti fruiti : A hybrid of vampire and werewolf. Jk! it is a hybrid of lip balm and lipstick. Sheer and very balmy. Price: Rs. 600/-
  • Revlon Lip Balm+ Stain in Rendezvous : balmy in texture but sets to matte finish after an hr or so. Medium orange with golden shimmers.Stays put for long. Price : Rs.600/-
  • Inglot Lipstick refill in 37 : A popping reddish orange shade. U need helluva guts ;) or just use fingers to sheer it out like I do. Price : Rs.300/ (revised)
Coral :

  •  MAC See Sheer Lipstick : I am hooked to this shade. Peachy coral with a glossy finish. Must have for fair warm skin tones. Price : Rs.990/-
  • Inglot Lipstick refill in 56 : Another peachy coral with semi matte finish.Deeper than see sheer. Price : Rs.300 (revised).
  • Avon mango mania : Technically not a coral but it looks coral on me so anyways. A pinkish coral with orange undertones and sets to a matte finish. Price : Rs.129 (not sure).
P.S. : Avon mango mania used to look brownish orange on me initially. But these days everything takes a pinkish hue on me. So put down ur mosquito bats this instant!

MAC See Sheer Lipstick Review with Swatches!!

My First MAC lipstick Review!! Yaaay!!

I had always wanted Cosmo as my first MAC but it did not exactly flatter me under the store lights. Actually no lipstick did but I wanted Crosswires and Mehr.As both were OOS I picked this up along with Captive :)

MAC See Sheer is the most flattering peachy coral I have come across! And this is not coming from me cuz it is my first MAC. Honestly I am liking it more than my Revlon Soft Rose and that is saying something ;) If u are looking to buy a summer color from MAC then check this out! I guarantee u would be floored by the color especially if u are fair-medium.

The packaging is standard MAC so I am not gonna dwell on it.

It is from the Lustre Finish range of MAC and provides sheer coverage with one swipe. But the opacity can be built to almost 75-80%.

Has a soft honey like texture and gives a glossy finish. Is lightweight and hence would not bleed like other creamy lipsticks. Keeps my lips hydrated.

The only con is the staying power which is just 2 hours on me :\ But I do not mind reapplying :)

I have dry lips and I always use a lip balm underneath lipsticks. This one does not settle into my fine lines.I saw sum reviews complaining about it but thank God that does not happen with me ;)

It goes well with coral and peach blushes :) Totally a no fuss lipstick that can be worn with minimal makeup for the soft look and not to forgot the delicious vanilla smell :D

Layer Revlon Papaya gloss over this to attain Coral Nirvana :)

VERDICT :

A coral color that stole my heart with its glossy finish and dry lip friendly texture :)  If u have more pink in ur lips it would probably look a pinky coral on u. It is my first MAC and if at all it gets over am gonna re purchase for sure ;)

No More a MAC Virgin!!

U know the feeling u get when something u long desired for is in ur hands! U feel like a u r in a dream albeit a beautiful dream! Feels the whole world is in slow motion and ur heart swells in pride and satisfaction :D

This is exactly what happened when the MAC SA gave me the bag with my first MAC goodies!

Also I got the Kryolan Customized Blush palette :) Another great moment of my life :D Deeps helped me select the shades :*

The first makeup item that I bought (not considering the lipsticks for dance programs) was a blush :) I can never have enough of them! So I wanted this palette to be a part of my first big haul :)

I got all d pretty colors that I wanted except a peach :P See?? I can never be satiated. Nevertheless I own 6 oomphalicious blush colors from Kryolan :)

Now for the eye feast ;)

I got the Kryolan blushes in shade :

  • Mandarin
  • Mocca
  • F22
  • YouthRed
  • R6
and MAC Lipsticks in
  • See Sheer
  • Captive
It is a great news that Kryolan now accepts order for customized blush palette :) I was more than happy when the SA offered to create my palette.

So what do u think of my haul?? After putting up the pics I realized how much I love colors.
