Lakme 9 to 5 Office Stylist lipstick in Pink Bureau Review and Swatches!

Lakme has created a storm in the makeup world with latest launches which have clicked well with the girls! I so wanted to try the new range of 9 to 5 lipsticks and picked up Pink Bureau as it looked the prettiest in the hand swatches.

The lipstick is housed in a pretty rose gold case that looks classy :) Now u can whip out ur Lakme lipsticks in public without feeling bad about any cheap packaging ;)

The drawback of the new range is that nearly all of the lipsticks contain shimmers in them :( The shade Pink Bureau is a deep rose-red with minute golden shimmers that do shoe up on the lips.I do not get why Lakme had to introduce shimmers in a lipstick that too a matte one!Totally ruins for me.

The lipstick is priced at 400 bucks. These days makeup prices have gone through the roof.U can hardly find decent options below 400 Rs.And why not..Onions sell for a century ;)

Okay the texture. The lipstick has a smooth texture and can be applied easily without any tugging. Application is even.Sets to a pure matte finish in 1-2 min.Being a matte lipstick, it tends to settle into fine lines and accentuate dry lips. So be sure to exfoliate ur lips prior application.

The lipstick packs a punch on the pigmentation front. One single swipe is enough to cover discoloration and provide the bright color to the lips.

The color looks overpowering on me.So I blot twice with a tissue. This color would suit fair-dusky skin.I am not sure about dark skin.

The lipstick feels drying after 1/2 an hr or so. I need to keep applying lip balm every now and then. Also, I noticed that my lips feel drier after the lipstick wears off :( So ladies with chapped lips u have been warned!

Lasts for 3.5-4 hrs when I blot and nearly 6 hrs in full intensity.

VERDICT :

Lakme has introduced pretty everyday wear shades in the 9 to 5 range and every1 would find definitely a color to suit provided u r okay with the pure matte finish.I would have picked p few more shades had they been creamy and shimmer free kinds :)

Maybelline Bold Matte Lipstick in MAT4 Review!

Pure Matte lipsticks make me run away screaming for mercy! My lips cannot survive the Sahara desert texture of the matte lipsticks. Add bold colors to that and I find my recipe of disaster ;)

I was so apprehensive of trying out the bold matte lipsticks but one swipe and I was sold out.

The bold matte lipsticks come in 5 shades from MAT 1 to MAT 5 and are priced at Rs.375/-. Internationally they have been assigned names. The one I got for review MAT 4 is bestowed with "Vivid Coral". But MAT 4 is anything but coral. It is a reddish orange shade that looks very bright on my fair skin. The brightness is not the garish sort.More of a punch of color. Due to being a warm shade this one will be a winner across all Indian skin colors :) Colorbar Creme Touch lipstick in Tangerine is less intense and more orangish while Inglot 37 is more reddish :)

The packaging is similar to the colorsensational ones but classy with the top cover being a matte reddish pink. The colorsensational ones I own have loads of scratches all over but I doubt that would occur with these. Also the typical caramel smell is absent in the bold mattes.Thumbs up for that!

These are not true matte lipsticks. More of a semi matte with a smooth texture that just glides over the lips. The Super stay lipsticks had a hard texture that tugged a lot and were damn drying. The bold matte lipsticks are hydrating and perfect for gals who are unsure but still hold a desire to try matte lipsticks. :)The pigmentation is good.A single swipe is suffice for my lips.

The lipstick stayed put even after I finished watching 3 back to back movies. I would say the average lasting power would be between 4-5 hours :)

U can check out the details of the range at :

http://www.maybelline.co.in/catalog/product.aspx?prdcode=P5024808&catcode=F1_LipColor

VERDICT :
I am in love with the texture and finish of the Bold matte lipsticks. MAT 4 is a bright reddish orange shade that is oomphalicious. I am already planning to buy MAT1 and MAT2 on my next shopping trip ! U guys got to try these lip colors!

I would rate these 4.5 out of 5 ;)

Lipstick Love : Maybelline Super Stay Lipstick in Lasting Chestnut Review and Swatches!

As promised I am reviewing the Maybelline 14hr super stay lipstick.

  •   The packaging is distinct from other Maybelline lipsticks.Sturdy and has a lower colored half that helps u know the shade by looking at the package. But be careful with the lipstick bullet. It is too close to the top.U might end up squishing the bullet otherwise.
  • Priced at 525/- Rs. it is definitely on the higher side.
  • U can check out Maybelline New York’s Long Lasting Lipstick here:

  •   The shade lasting chestnut is chocolate brown.Personally I am not into browns. But I can use it as a tint for office once in a while!
  •  The shade is highly pigmented. One swipe is enough to cover pigmentation.

  •  The texture of the lipstick is smooth but not creamy.
  •  Feels sticky on the lips for like half an hr after application.A lil amount of glossiness is present for the same time. After that it sets to a true matte finish.
  • Starts drying out my lips after an hour or so. I prefer cream finish even though they are not long lasting ;)
  •  Transfers to cups but it is discernible compared to other lipsticks (read creamy lipsticks).
  • Emphasizes the dry flakes on the lips. So u need exfoliated and well moisturized lips every time u apply lipsticks from this range ;)
  • The lasting power is 7 hours. I took my food 3 hours after application and it faded slightly on the inner flesh. But other than that it stays intact for 5 hours after which it started fading. The tagline is totally far fetched ;)
  • Stains the lips.
VERDICT :

If u r a matte lipstick lover then these lipsticks are great choices to have :) They have a plethora of shades to suit every taste.  This particular brown shade can be MLBB for dusky and dark skin :)

Lipstick Love : Colorbar Velvet matte Lipstick in Obsessed Orange Review and Swatches!

Finally! Yay I possess the ever elusive Obsessed Orange shade from the Colorbar Velvet Matte Range! :D

And I wanted to flaunt it through a review ;)

  • The packaging is pretty good.Cylindrical case with the lipstick color displayed at the end of the tube.
  • Sturdy and Travel friendly.
  • The shade is a Fanta Orange. A color tailor made for the warm undertones.
  • The texture I felt is softer and creamier than the other Colorbar lipsticks I own from the range.
  • Settles into fine lines but does not look obvious.

  • Formula is drying since it is matte.Dry lips need a good prep consisting of exfoliation and good dose of moisturization before application.
  • Finish is as mentioned matte.True matte lipstick.
  • Single swipe provides medium coverage. For a tint, pat on the color with ur ring finger :)
  • Lasted for about 4 hours on me.I needed numerous applications of lip balm the whole time.
  • The tint it leaves behind on my lips is uneven.
  • Priced at Rs.250/.

  • The Inglot 37 lipstick (orange) leaner more towards red while this one is plain orange.IMO these 2 shades are very different.Personally I like the Inglot one :)
  • The Obsessed orange shade does not look popping on me but if u r dusky it would certainly look like an explosion of orange color in a good way of course :)

VERDICT:
Well, if it is possible to have orange lips naturally then this might be my "that" orange shade ;) But the fact that I am not a fan of matte lipsticks extends to this one too despite the color.

My Favorite Everyday Wear Lipsticks!

I am sharing some lipsticks that I personally like for everyday wear.Theses lipsticks I feel will be perfect for office and college wear :) Consider these as must have shades for the warm Indian skin tones :)

Not all of them are pink. The shades are pinks/peachy pink/peachy brown/pinky browns :)

Swatch Timeeeeeee!! :D

The lipsticks:
  1. Amway Attitude Natural Brown : A peachy brown shade.I like it and my sister loves it :) So I have ordered a full size lipstick.U can read my review at this link.
  2. Maybelline Colorsensational My Mahogany : A cult shade! Suits a lot of gals :) Pretty peachy brown makes it suitable for Indian skin tones. It is lighter than Natural Brown.Check out my rave here.
  3. Lakme Lip Love in Rose Kissed : Classic pink with slight brown undertones that could be deepened with another swipe. This is the one shade I could wear anywhere.Check out full details here.
  4. Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Rosy Nude: Peach-pink-brown combination. It is a lighter and has more brown in it than Lakme Rose Kissed.
  5. Revlon Colorburst in Soft Rose : Soft pink with red undertones. My favorite shade from the  colorburst range :)
  6. Lakme Aquashine Lip Color in Old Rose: Rosy pink shade. It will look beautiful on fair skintones but won't show up on pigmented lips :(
  7. Streetwear lipstick In Pink Pie: Pink with peach undertones.Extremely wearable and cheap :) Full review here.
  8. Colorbar Lipstick in Nectar : This has been discontinued but it is another lovely pink that will suit fair skin :) U might wanna check out the review in case here.

Fuchsia Dose:Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick Oh My Magenta Review and Swatches!

I got Oh My Magenta together with Rum Raisin .It is also from the Velvet Matte range of Colorbar which provides good quality and Long lasting (mostly) lipsticks for affordable price :) And the range is huge with browns, mauve, maroons, pinks, fuchsia, red, orange and many more!
So moving on to this particular shade:

PACKAGING: The packaging is same as that of Rum Raisin with a cylindrical case with one end providing the color of the lipstick.Pretty handy and sturdy :) U can read the review of Rum Raisin here :)

TEXTURE: The lipstick is not creamy since it is a matte one but does not pose any problem in applying..glides smoothly over my lips. But mind u since this is matte u shouldn't dare to use it with flaky lips.Exfoliate and moisturize ur lips before touching this 1!Like other velvet matte lipsticks this one has a peculiar incense smell which lasts as long as u wear it :\ A major drawback here.

PIGMENTATION: It is super pigmented but not as strong as Rum Raisin. It covers the discoloration in a single swipe.

COLOR: It is a vivid pink/Fuchsia shade that requires u to carry it with confidence ;) Or u could tone it down with a dab of tissue for a subtle natural looking pink tint.

LASTING POWER:It lasts for 51/2-6 hrs but u do need to apply lipbalm over it occasionally to prevent drying of lips.

Pros:
  • Long lasting
  • Great range
  • Affordable
  • Pretty shade
Cons:
  • Being a matte tends to dry up and settle into fine lines.
  • Horrible smell
  • Difficult to remove

RATING: 3.7 out of 5.

RECO: Yes if u can looking to add a bright shade to ur vanity and do not have problems with matte lipsticks :)
