Lakme Eyeconic kajal in Brown Review and Swatches !

I love wearing browns. Brown on the eyes and orange on the lips works so well on my warm yellow skin. Does not matter that the orange starts looking like hot pink on my lips within few minutes of application.Weird? Exactly. I should get one of those brown rainbow eyeshadow refill from Inglot. I already own few brown eye liners. But few does not cut it u know ;) So I had to get the Lakme eyeconic color kajal in Brown.

The Eyeconic kajal in Brown comes in the same packaging as that of the normal Lakme Eyeconic kajal. Same black/blue packaging but instead of Lakme written in the bottom, we have the color written. Brown in this case. Practical packaging and travel friendly. Nothing fancy.

Priced at Rs. 250 while the black one retails for Rs.200. Still works cheaper than other brands or Lakme Absolute range.

The shade is deep chocolate brown with slight hints of black. Not a blackened brown though, If u get wat I mean.

Totally matte and works great for office wear. If u shy away from deep blacks then u must try this. Subtle yet defines the eyes beautifully :)

Is smooth and creamy. Does not break though and glides like butter over the eyes. I used it on my waterline and it did not sting my eyes.

The pigmentation is good. If u have really pigmented lids, it might not show up. Brown is like that sigh! But nothing a concealer can't fix :)

Lasts for 7-8 hours on my waterline and nearly 10 hrs on my upper lash line with slight fading. I did not find it smudging but I got dry eyes and kajals hardly smudge on me.

The kajal is waterproof and smudge proof. Once it sets, does not budge instead fades to non existence :P But no kohled eyes work better than panda eyes any day.

VERDICT :

I love my Maybelline Swirl Gel Liner in Brown but this pencil liner is easier to use and budget friendly.  I will definitely re purchase this liner when it gets over which it will as it has become my everyday staple.

P.s. : Watch this space for the review of the blue shade from the range. Another pretty one :)

Lakme Absolute Plump and Shine Gloss in Pink Shine Review and Swatches!

Dear God,

I can't thank u enough for bringing Coral pinks be it lip colors or blushes or clothes into my life! They make my life prettier and every damn thing in that damn color looks gorgeous! Now all I need is Coral pink shoes and bags to match and it is Diwali Time..just saying!

                                                                                                                 Yours Obviously
                                                                                                                 Coral Pink Lover

I wrote this letter after experiencing bliss from swatching all my coral pink makeup ;)

Lakme Absolute gloss comes in a cylindrical transparent tube with a dark silver cap.It has Lakme Absolute Plump and Shine Gloss written over the tube. The shade name is printed on the cap which has already faded on mine.Y couldn't they print on the underside of the tube :\

Consists of doe foot applicator. But I find application patchy as with the Maybelline High Shine glosses.

Little pricey at Rs.450 for 3 ml.

The shade Pink Shine is super gorgeous. It is a beautiful blend of pink and coral leaning more towards pink. It is the perfect my kind of shade :)

It is bright but not overtly so.For me it works best as office wear.Just dab a bit over my lower lips and even out with fingers. If I apply it in full intensity it is attention grabbing. Also, the application with the wand comes out lil patchy.

The color would suit range of Indian skin colors from fair to dark.Fair skin would love this shade. If u r someone who cannot carry pink lip colors cuz of yellow skin, do give this a try :)

The gloss has great pigmentation.Discolored lips can be easily covered with 2 swipes.

It has a soft creamy and slightly sticky texture and feels moisturizing and light on the lips. The stickiness is mild and not bothersome at all.

Smells like custard powder :D

The shade Pink shine is a cream gloss devoid of shimmers. That makes it all the more awesome.

Lass for 1.5 hrs max if worn sheered out and 3.5 hrs max in full intensity. The 6 hrs claim is a sham ;)

VERDICT :
Must have gloss shade from the Absolute range.  It has overshadowed my love for Revlon papaya to become a new favorite.

P.s : Pair it up with a coral pink/peachy pink blush.Lakme Day blushes/Maybelline Peachy Sweetie/Colorbar Peachy Rose/Inglot 32 would be my suggestions

Maybelline The Colossal Kajal Review and Swatches ( New 12 Hr Formula)

I might be the last one to review the kajal but it would not hurt to have one more review right ;) Now be a sweetheart and say no :D

I have been wanting to try the Lakme Absolute Kohl for eons now but my budget does not allow. all my money goes into buying clothes :P I have just ordered some more clothes from Jabong. Hope they suit me well fingers crossed!

The packaging of the new kajal is similar to the old one. Peppy yellow tube with Maybelline The Colossal Kajal written in black.I find the packaging flimsy. My last Colossal broke after a few uses. I was wondering if mine was a defective one but one of my friends complained that hers broke too :O So Maybelline needs to work on that.

The Kajal is dark black but not jet black. My Bourjois Khol pencil is still the darkest I have used till date. I feel Lakme Eyeconic and Colossal have similar pigmentation levels but Colossal lacks the greyish tinge that Eyeconic has. Brownie points for Colossal ;)

Colossal has a soft texture and does not tug at the waterline. But the texture makes it harder to line the upper lash line as it can break easily.IMO, this is softer and creamier than Eyeconic.

The kajal does not weigh down the waterline.

Smudgeproof??The kajal does not smudge once it sets which it does after a few seconds. Most of the kajals do not smudge on my dry lids.

I tested it under running water and there was very little smudging.Eyeconic scores a point here as it held on better :)

Lasts for a very long time.I wore it at 8.30 a.m. and at 10.30 p.m. it was still present with some fading. So it does keep up the 12 hr claim at least on me ( I work under ac conditions and hardly break a sweat).

The only good thing about working a 12 hr schedule + 2 hr travel is that I can breezily test the staying power of my makeup ;)

U can check out the kajal at
http://maybelline.co.in/catalog/product.aspx?prdcode=P5025101&catcode=F1_Kajal

VERDICT :

The new version of the Colossal Kajal is definitely an improvement over the 6 hr one. It gives tough competition to Lakme Eyeconic kajal from the same price range. I personally like alternating between the 2 :) Would give this 4 out of 5.

Disclaimer : Product sent by Brand for Consideration. But my opinions are honest swear to God :)

Lakme 9 to 5 Office Stylist lipstick in Pink Bureau Review and Swatches!

Lakme has created a storm in the makeup world with latest launches which have clicked well with the girls! I so wanted to try the new range of 9 to 5 lipsticks and picked up Pink Bureau as it looked the prettiest in the hand swatches.

The lipstick is housed in a pretty rose gold case that looks classy :) Now u can whip out ur Lakme lipsticks in public without feeling bad about any cheap packaging ;)

The drawback of the new range is that nearly all of the lipsticks contain shimmers in them :( The shade Pink Bureau is a deep rose-red with minute golden shimmers that do shoe up on the lips.I do not get why Lakme had to introduce shimmers in a lipstick that too a matte one!Totally ruins for me.

The lipstick is priced at 400 bucks. These days makeup prices have gone through the roof.U can hardly find decent options below 400 Rs.And why not..Onions sell for a century ;)

Okay the texture. The lipstick has a smooth texture and can be applied easily without any tugging. Application is even.Sets to a pure matte finish in 1-2 min.Being a matte lipstick, it tends to settle into fine lines and accentuate dry lips. So be sure to exfoliate ur lips prior application.

The lipstick packs a punch on the pigmentation front. One single swipe is enough to cover discoloration and provide the bright color to the lips.

The color looks overpowering on me.So I blot twice with a tissue. This color would suit fair-dusky skin.I am not sure about dark skin.

The lipstick feels drying after 1/2 an hr or so. I need to keep applying lip balm every now and then. Also, I noticed that my lips feel drier after the lipstick wears off :( So ladies with chapped lips u have been warned!

Lasts for 3.5-4 hrs when I blot and nearly 6 hrs in full intensity.

VERDICT :

Lakme has introduced pretty everyday wear shades in the 9 to 5 range and every1 would find definitely a color to suit provided u r okay with the pure matte finish.I would have picked p few more shades had they been creamy and shimmer free kinds :)

Must have blushes for Indian Skin!

Chaliya Chaliya ..Don't look at me like that boy! That song is strangely addictive u know!

If u r one of the beauty junkies who owns several lipsticks and blushes but still hit Google baba looking for the must have makeup products for Indian skin then give me a high five :D I had wanted to post such a compilation for long but never had the time.

The blushes would suit both fair and dusky skin :)

  • Rosy Pink  : Inglot 27 is said to be the dupe of MAC desert rose. It has a satin finish and does not look like a patch of pink on the cheeks. Rather it gives a well rested look. Priced at rs.350/- for refill and 720/- for a pot.

  • Neutral Pink : Every girl needs a neutral pink blush that she can blindly reach out in case of confusion ;) NYX Tea Rose is one such beige pink blush that gives a dewy fiinsh. Oily skin may not like the finish. Priced at Rs. 650/- in India.

  • Coral : We Indians tend to underestimate the power of corals and stick to browns and pinks. But coral is an excellent choice we need to explore more often. Lakme Day Blushes is a stunning coral peach pink blush with a satin finish and has tiny shimmers that make the skin glow. Absolute must have. I have a backup of this ;) Retails for Rs.550/- and worth the moolah!

  • Medium Peach : I have not seen a peach blush that is prettier than Faces Burnt Sienna. Sadly it is discontinued and mine is all broken. It has a hint of orange that makes it warm and wearable.

  • Shimmery Peach : U know all the hype around bronzers at International beauty cafes! But IMO bronzers do not suit me. Bronzers look muddy or orangy to me. So I suggest switching to a shimmery peach blush :) MUA no.5 is cheap apart from being a delightful combination of peach and gold! Got it for half pound at 50% off

  • Medium Pink: One swipe of the Maybelline Soft plum blush and u would fall in love with blushes ;) That is how it happened with me. If u r not a mousse blush person u can try Bourjois Rose Frisson blush which is the same shade but in baked powder form. Soft plum costed me Rs.200/- but is discontinued now and Rose frisson is priced at Rs.500 I think.

Apart from these it would be great to own :
  • Red : yes! Red blush :P They look pretty too :) Youth red from Kryolan is a good option for a matte red blush at Rs. 350/-

  • Brown : brown?? Why the ?? For contouring purposes! U never know when the occasion would demand for a slimmer facade ;) Again priced at Rs.350/- Kryolan Mocha blush comes to the rescue. Or get a matte bronzer!
From L-R : Maybelline Soft Plum,Inglot 27,Faces Burnt Sienna,MUA no.5,Lakme Day Blushes,NYX Tea Rose,Kryolan Youth Red,Kryolan Mocha

P.S: If u r wondering y it is always 8 in my compilation posts 8 is my lucky number ;)

Currently Loving! July edition!

Though I literally disappeared from the beauty blogging scene for sometime now I have been using makeup as a ritual to office everyday :) It does not matter that most of it vanishes before I set foot into my office ;)

So what am I liking a lot these days??

Go on have a look at the shots :

Color Color which Color do u choose from the blush palette?? I would so love to use all these shades at the same time but oh well I am not auditioning for clown fiesta :D

I can call R6 the safest color of the lot that stains the cheeks a rosy pink shade that looks Au natural :)

Also loving the Colorbar Lip pot in Cherry Pop and Avon Fresh Rose lipstick from the Simply Pretty range :) The cherry pop gives a lovely tint on sheer application and Fresh Rose is a young shade of sorts. Gives enough brightness to wake u up but not to the level where u get stared at in a berating way. The Biotique bio color lipstick in Bamboo is a pretty coral pink shade that a coral loving gal like me has got to own :)

I have been taking the Nutrilite supplement from Amway for over a month now and the results are clearly visible on my skin :) Skin looks brighter!

Like the Lakme eyeconic kajal but I so wanna try the Absolute kohl :) I also got this eye groomer brush from H & G and love how my lashes look defined and fluttery with a single swipe of the lash comb! Hats off to Wayne Goss for the tip ;)
