Maybelline Bold Matte Lipstick in MAT4 Review!

Pure Matte lipsticks make me run away screaming for mercy! My lips cannot survive the Sahara desert texture of the matte lipsticks. Add bold colors to that and I find my recipe of disaster ;)

I was so apprehensive of trying out the bold matte lipsticks but one swipe and I was sold out.

The bold matte lipsticks come in 5 shades from MAT 1 to MAT 5 and are priced at Rs.375/-. Internationally they have been assigned names. The one I got for review MAT 4 is bestowed with "Vivid Coral". But MAT 4 is anything but coral. It is a reddish orange shade that looks very bright on my fair skin. The brightness is not the garish sort.More of a punch of color. Due to being a warm shade this one will be a winner across all Indian skin colors :) Colorbar Creme Touch lipstick in Tangerine is less intense and more orangish while Inglot 37 is more reddish :)

The packaging is similar to the colorsensational ones but classy with the top cover being a matte reddish pink. The colorsensational ones I own have loads of scratches all over but I doubt that would occur with these. Also the typical caramel smell is absent in the bold mattes.Thumbs up for that!

These are not true matte lipsticks. More of a semi matte with a smooth texture that just glides over the lips. The Super stay lipsticks had a hard texture that tugged a lot and were damn drying. The bold matte lipsticks are hydrating and perfect for gals who are unsure but still hold a desire to try matte lipsticks. :)The pigmentation is good.A single swipe is suffice for my lips.

The lipstick stayed put even after I finished watching 3 back to back movies. I would say the average lasting power would be between 4-5 hours :)

U can check out the details of the range at :

VERDICT :
I am in love with the texture and finish of the Bold matte lipsticks. MAT 4 is a bright reddish orange shade that is oomphalicious. I am already planning to buy MAT1 and MAT2 on my next shopping trip ! U guys got to try these lip colors!

I would rate these 4.5 out of 5 ;)

Presenting the perfect Peachy Brown for the Indian ladies! Biotique Bio Color lipstick in Mocha Silk !

I have always been the girl attracted to pink lipsticks.Almost all of my fav lipsticks are from the pink family. But My Mahogany is one of my favorite non pink lipsticks :) It is a warm peachy brown that goes wonderfully well with brown liner. If u have been trying hard to get ur hands on My Mahogany I would recommend u to check out Mocha Silk! It is  97%  same just a teeny weeny bit peachier.I am sure both would look the same on lips :) I also have a feeling that this shade might wash out very fair skin.

  • The lipstick comes in  a black case which is practical and sturdy but not chic. They could have given more thought to the packaging.
  • The biotique bio color lipsticks are priced at Rs.225/-
  • The texture is not exactly creamy but glides without tugging.
  • Would accentuate dry flakes so exfoliation and moisturizing with baby lips prior to application will do u good.
  • Has a vanilla-plastic mixture kinda smell that vanishes a few minutes after application.
  • Sets to a matte finish but not drying. It exudes a slight glossiness initially. I go over with my chapstick after application.
  • Staying power is less for a matte finish lipstick. The average wear time I got was the same as Bamboo : 3 hours. It fades to a tint after food.

VERDICT :
If u are a warm toned gal who loves peachy browns then do check out this one :)

Biotique Bio Color Lipstick in Bamboo Review and Swatches! And No its not a Green!

Who names a lipstick bamboo ?? Seriously! Bamboos are green and have u guys ever seen a gal wearing green lip color ?? Not even the zombies ;) Zombies have grey/blue or even red lips with all the blood dripping down their disfigured faces. But let's say the guy/gal who named this lipstick bamboo was in love with bamboos as I am! Bamboos have a drugged effect on me. They remind me of dense green forests and Kerala! And maybe he/she loved this lip color with a fierceness that the creative team decided to name it Bamboo :)

Ahem Ahem :)
  • The lipstick comes in  a black case which is practical and sturdy but not chic. They could have given more thought to the packaging.
  • The biotique bio color lipsticks are priced at Rs.225/-
  • Bamboo is an innocent coral pink similar to Maybelline Coral pink but less vibrant. It is like the shy cute sister which every guy wants to get to know ;)
  • The texture is not exactly creamy but glides without tugging.
  • Would accentuate dry flakes so exfoliation and moisturizing with baby lips prior to application will help u not curse the lipstick for the color is too pretty for that.
  • Has a vanilla-plastic mixture kinda smell that vanishes a few minutes after application.
  • Sets to a matte finish but not drying. It exudes a slight glossiness initially. I go over with my chapstick after application.
  • Staying power is less for a matte finish lipstick. The average wear time I got was 3 hours. It fades to a tint after food.

The second one from left is the bamboo one and the one next to it is Maybelline Coral Pink :)  Though they look the exact shade in the hand swatches, Bamboo is less intense and more wearable :)

VERDICT :
If u already own the maybelline one u need not necessarily get this shade. But it is a coral pink that would suit fair-medium skin amazingly well :)

Must have blushes for Indian Skin!

Chaliya Chaliya ..Don't look at me like that boy! That song is strangely addictive u know!

If u r one of the beauty junkies who owns several lipsticks and blushes but still hit Google baba looking for the must have makeup products for Indian skin then give me a high five :D I had wanted to post such a compilation for long but never had the time.

The blushes would suit both fair and dusky skin :)

  • Rosy Pink  : Inglot 27 is said to be the dupe of MAC desert rose. It has a satin finish and does not look like a patch of pink on the cheeks. Rather it gives a well rested look. Priced at rs.350/- for refill and 720/- for a pot.

  • Neutral Pink : Every girl needs a neutral pink blush that she can blindly reach out in case of confusion ;) NYX Tea Rose is one such beige pink blush that gives a dewy fiinsh. Oily skin may not like the finish. Priced at Rs. 650/- in India.

  • Coral : We Indians tend to underestimate the power of corals and stick to browns and pinks. But coral is an excellent choice we need to explore more often. Lakme Day Blushes is a stunning coral peach pink blush with a satin finish and has tiny shimmers that make the skin glow. Absolute must have. I have a backup of this ;) Retails for Rs.550/- and worth the moolah!

  • Medium Peach : I have not seen a peach blush that is prettier than Faces Burnt Sienna. Sadly it is discontinued and mine is all broken. It has a hint of orange that makes it warm and wearable.

  • Shimmery Peach : U know all the hype around bronzers at International beauty cafes! But IMO bronzers do not suit me. Bronzers look muddy or orangy to me. So I suggest switching to a shimmery peach blush :) MUA no.5 is cheap apart from being a delightful combination of peach and gold! Got it for half pound at 50% off

  • Medium Pink: One swipe of the Maybelline Soft plum blush and u would fall in love with blushes ;) That is how it happened with me. If u r not a mousse blush person u can try Bourjois Rose Frisson blush which is the same shade but in baked powder form. Soft plum costed me Rs.200/- but is discontinued now and Rose frisson is priced at Rs.500 I think.

Apart from these it would be great to own :
  • Red : yes! Red blush :P They look pretty too :) Youth red from Kryolan is a good option for a matte red blush at Rs. 350/-

  • Brown : brown?? Why the ?? For contouring purposes! U never know when the occasion would demand for a slimmer facade ;) Again priced at Rs.350/- Kryolan Mocha blush comes to the rescue. Or get a matte bronzer!
From L-R : Maybelline Soft Plum,Inglot 27,Faces Burnt Sienna,MUA no.5,Lakme Day Blushes,NYX Tea Rose,Kryolan Youth Red,Kryolan Mocha

P.S: If u r wondering y it is always 8 in my compilation posts 8 is my lucky number ;)
