Lipstick Love : Maybelline Lip Polish in Glam 9 Review and Swatches!!

I have become more of a clothes (and shoes) convert these days. So the little makeup I purchase, I make sure are the ones I would use during the week.

Maybelline Lip Polishes. I could safely call them one of the best products by the brand. Priced : 499 Rs.

The tube is ultra cute with the inside looking like an inverted lipstick tube but is actually a gloss. As mentioned in the Glam 6 review, lip polishes are a cross between gloss and lipstick.

The shade Glam 9 is a bubblegum pink. Confession time. I hate Boomer bubblegums. The smell gives me headache :O But the shade is pretty. A little cool toned bubblegum pink with slight silver shimmers that will look great on fair/medium skin but may wash out dusky skin.

The petal applicator is really soft but the application goes streaky. Really uneven. So I apply a little on my lips and smoothen it out with fingers for even finish.

It feels very comfortable and moisturizing on the lips. Lip balm is not a definite need with this. Soft and cushiony lips :)

Gets easily transferred.

The glossiness stays for 30 mins or so. The color vanishes after 2 hours without eating/drinking. But with food, it will disappear immediately.

Overall, I love the lip polish for its texture, wearable color and moisturizing feel.

Thumbs up from my side :)

Maybelline Lip Polish in Glam 6 Review and Swatches and a Happy New Year !

2013 was great in terms of makeup but not so with my blogging job :) And honestly I did not miss blogging. I did feel guilty but nothing to nudge me into blogging again. I have no idea how my passion for beauty blogging waned. I am trying to resurrect it.So My new year resolution is to do a minimum of 2 posts a week :P

To keep up I am going to review the Maybelline Lip Polish in Glam 6.

The Lip polish is priced at Rs. 450/- for 5 ml and comes in a queer tube that has a lipstick bullet like packaging. But in real it is a lipgloss when u screw open the silver cap.

U can check out the Maybelline Lip Polish Page by clicking on the below link:

http://maybelline.co.in/catalog/product.aspx?prdcode=P50257011&catcode=F1_LipColor

What pisses me off the most in makeup products other than frosty shimmers in lipsticks? Number system instead of names. How are we less mortals supposed to remember the numbers of lipsticks and blushes?

Glam 6 is a deep dark grape shade and I am calling it *Grape Squash*. I think that sounds better dontcha gals ;) If  black grapes could stain my lips it would this exact shade. Revlon Colorburst lipstick in Grape would come close.

The applicator has a petal like (?) shape to it that deposits color evenly. But then, it is too big for my lips and the color smears outside my lips during application :(

The lip polish has a creamy texture and no shimmery surprise :) On application, it gives the glossiest finish and opaque coverage ( I am nt sure about the other shades though)I have ever obtained from a lip gloss. Lips do look fuller and smoother.

Sits comfortably on the lips and is not sticky. Feels light weight and doe not bleed despite being
creamy. Lip gloss, Lipstick and Lip balm in a tube ? I tend to agree with Maybelline on this :)

Lasts for 3.5-4 hrs max on me while the glossiness vanishes after 1 hour. After meals it leaves behind a subtle pink stain.

This is a wintery shade that will not wash out any skin color. Plus if u have been lusting after Katy Perry's lip color from her Unconditionally video, then grab this :)

Verdict :

I would pick the Lip Polishes and the Cheek Glow blushes as the best of Maybelline from 2013 :)

Wishing u gals a very Happy New Year :)

Maybelline High Shine gloss in Captivating Coral Review and swatches!

Yes another gloss for those of u looking to flaunt the summer makeup trend ;)

"The one that has sheen and will make u preen
It is the gloss in tangerine "

The Maybelline High shine gloss comes in a transparent tube with nothing printed on it. Nope.Zilch and that makes it boring. They are priced at 350 bucks a piece.
But on the flip side it helps in easier identification of yours truly ;)

U can check out the gloss shades at  http://maybelline.co.in/products/lips/lip_gloss/color_sensational.html

The tube has a bent applicator that helps in better placement of the gloss especially in the corners.
The shade number and name is mentioned at the end of the tube.
The tube is not heavy *hello Lotus Pure Stay* and definitely travel friendly if u do not mind scratches on the tube of course!
Who named thou Coral?? Cuz u r Tangerine! Pure warm tangerine with no hints of pink!
If u someone scared of oranges as I am scared of ghosts then U can take ur baby steps into the big bad world of orange with this gloss. U do have the option of Revlon Tutti fruiti but it is damn expensive for a lip balm!

The gloss has a creamy texture and absolutely non sticky. Great for dry lips. But the texture makes it lil uneven on the lips.I would suggest applying small amount with the wand and even-ing it out with ur fingers.
And the good news for office/college makeup junkies is that it is devoid of shimmers which makes it apt for daily wear :)
The gloss is hydrating as long as it stays on the lips and gives an illusion of plump lips :)
Most importantly it does not weigh down the lips.

Pigmentation is sheer. it is buildable but has serious limitations. It will not hide major discolorations.
The staying power was where it lost its star.It hardly stayed for more than 1.5 hours and with food it completely disappears.

U can pair the gloss with a peach blush like MUA blusher in 4/5 or Faces burnt Sienna and brown rimmed eyes :)

VERDICT :

I am liking the gloss for its light weight and creamy texture. U got a lot of pretty shades to choose from. I might pick up gleaming grenadine next :)
Would rate it 4.3 out of 5 ( -0.7 cuz I find it annoying to do touch ups so often hmph!)
